Knife-Attack Suspect Shot And Killed By Police In Glendale: PD

The shooting occurred Monday night in the Crescenta Highlands neighborhood.

GLENDALE, CA — A man was shot and killed by police Monday night after he attacked a neighbor with a knife and then confronted officers while armed, according to the Glendale Police Department.

The incident began around 9:04 p.m. on the 3700 block of Honolulu Avenue in the Crescenta Highlands neighborhood, where officers responded to a report of a knife assault that had just occurred, according to police.

When officers arrived, they found a victim suffering from injuries consistent with a knife attack, police said.

Police said the suspect, a man who lived near the victim, emerged from a nearby residence armed with a knife and fled when officers attempted to contact him. Officers chased the suspect on foot for a short distance.

During the pursuit, the suspect turned and advanced toward the pursuing officers while still holding the knife, police said.

One or more officers shot the man, police said.

The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were injured.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening, police said.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office and investigators from the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office responded to the scene. Glendale police detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.
