La Crescenta Man Severely Beaten Outside Bar

Patrons had to restrain a man until police arrived after he repeatedly kicked the head of another man Monday, leaving the victim with blunt force trauma to the head.

Donovan Emsworth, 41, from Glendale, was arrested outside Dave's Bar. Nearby, the badly beaten body of a La Crescenta man lay unconscious on the sidewalk. The victim was still listed in critical condition with blunt force trauma to his head and face, the LA Times Reported.

Emsworth was booked on suspicion of attempted murder. He is being held in lieu of $556,000 bail.

Witnesses reported seeing Emsworth yelling at the victim. He then reportedly punched the victim twice. The victim fell to the ground and Emsworth kicked his head.

Records show Emsworth has been convicted of various driving violations and faces charges of assault, battery and violation of a 2012 restraining order, the Times said.
