A Latinas in STEM 101 conference will
be held at Glendale Community College on Saturday, May 3 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
in the Student Center. GCC is partnering with the Latinas in STEM Foundation to
host the one-day workshop.
The conference is open to middle and
high school students, parents, and school faculty and staff. Admission to the
conference is free to attendees and will include continental breakfast and
lunch. The keynote address will be delivered by Veronica Garcia, Staff Engineer
at Aerojet Rocketdyne. The conference program also features a hands-on activity
by DIY (Do It Yourself) Girls, workshops exploring STEM fields, personal
stories by professionals in STEM fields, and parent information sessions.
The conference is funded by the
GCC/CSUN AIMS and GAUSS Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) STEM Initiatives.

Latinas in STEM 101 is a series of
nationwide workshops, developed by the Latinas in STEM Foundation, focused on
inspiring middle and high school students (and their parents) to pursue and
thrive in STEM fields.
