Patch Letter: A Fallen Hero
Former Glendale City Council candidate Mike Mohill submitted a letter to Patch about how he believes Montrose's John Drayman may be a fallen hero.

The following is a letter submitted to Patch by Glendale resident Mike Mohill:
There are still those in our community who believe John Drayman lost his 2011 re-election due to the rumors of scandal that began to collect around him last year. Which scandal? The ADI votes he cast without disclosing the $9,000 in campaign contributions he received from the ADI sub-contractors in May, 2007? The $20,000 oops, I meant $200,000 condo “remodel” by an ADI sub-contractor with no building permits? The condo remodel with no payments to the contractors for labor or supplies? The city inspections that revealed the remodel was not a $30,000 project?
I stood before city council repeatedly as a concerned citizen, watchdog and a council candidate pleading to our voters to see what was right before their eyes. I was mocked, ridiculed, and scandalized, but I was not deterred. I remained undeterred in my bid for city council. I’m sure that many rejoiced in my loss for city council. I believe that all of my speeches and warning assisted in Mr. Drayman losing his re-election bid and in that I rejoice!

The Montrose Shopping Park embezzlement investigation was not made public until after the April, 2011 city council election in May 2011. Perhaps, now, those who rejoiced in my failed election bid will thank me for carrying the cross of accountability and transparency in our government practices and representatives. Others in our community continue to blindly believe in Mr. Drayman. He remains their hero. His demeanor towards me during the council election should serve as a lesson or warning to those who would challenge any current city council person. Mr. Drayman, their hero, demonstrated how he/they will treat a person who would dare to warn the public.
