The Los Angeles Writers Reading Series at Glendale Community College presents readings by GCC English faculty members.

The Los Angeles Writers Reading Series at Glendale Community College presents readings by GCC English faculty members and critically acclaimed writers Amarnath Ravva and Angela Morales on May 10 at 12:20 p.m. in the Student Center.

Morales will read from her autobiographical essay collection “The Girl in My Town,” for which she won the River Teeth Nonfiction Prize in 2014. Her writing has appeared in The Southern Review, The Harvard Review, The Los Angeles Review and A Journal of Creative Nonfiction.

Ravva will share video and text from his “American Canyon,” a finalist for the PEN Center USA Literary Awards. He has performed at LACMA, Machine Project, the Hammer Museum, USC, CalArts, the Sorbonne and more.

The ongoing Los Angeles Writers Reading Series is coordinated by GCC English instructor Claire Phillips to celebrate local writers and to give students access to literary events where they can meet and talk with authors who wrote some of the material used in their English classes.
