Loyal Taffy Needs a Loving Home

Taffy doesn't speak English - only dog - if she did, she would tell you that shelter life's not for her. 

The five-year-old, 50-pound Golden mix is a special needs dog who was adopted with her brother about six months ago, however, it didn't work for both dogs to live together, Monica Baltazar of Glendale Humane Society told Patch. Taffy was later returned to GHS.

"Her introduction into the world was sad at best," Baltazar said. "She and her brother were outdoor dogs that had very little care and love."

"She has lived with us for about two years and was and still is a volunteer and staff favorite – but shelter life is not what this pretty girl needs," Baltazar said.

Taffy is described as loving and exceptionally bright, she knows basic manners and walks well on a leash. 

"Her second attempt at a new life was cut short when Taffy became destructive left at home unsupervised," Baltazar said.

"If you are interested in helping our girl find her forever home, we would love to meet with you," Baltazar said. "Taffy needs a dog savvy home with adults. She wants to be the only dog and requires a solid routine and training to learn to trust her environment."

Taffy has a fund to have her own dog walker or hiker and needs to have daily activity outside of the shelter.

The consistency with a trainer has already shown positive methods and locals can donate to the shelter to help her while Taffy waits for her forever home, Baltazar said.
