Music Lover Seeks Art Fanatic

La Crescenta music teacher, Julie Reasbeck, hopes to snag a fellow artist.

When I spotted Julie, I couldn’t help but notice her wildly magnetic smile. And after finding out she was a musician, it wasn’t long before I had uncovered her performance at a famous wedding and her unlikely penchant for dishonest men. She wasn’t the shy type and after finding out about her love for the single life, I wasn’t surprised that this rock goddess would rather be happy alone than miserable with someone else.

Do you live around here?

I actually teach around here. I live in Glendale now.

Is that where you were coming from just now? Teaching?

Yes. I was with a little girl who is learning violin. She is adorable!

How long have you been teaching in the area?

Almost two years, I think. I do private lessons.

What instruments do you play?

I’m classically trained so I play violin, guitar, piano and viola.

Do you ever play at venues?

My last band played at Sandra Bullock’s wedding. I was surprised they didn’t last, she and Jesse. They looked so in love. Then again, it was a wedding.

Good point.

Oh and I auditioned for the LA Phil!

Those are hard to get. That’s impressive!

It was also very scary, but I like composing music.

Do you date much?

I don’t have a whole lot of time to date, but I make it count when I do! I have been dating a guy recently, but I don’t know where it is headed.

Do you ever want to get married?

I like being ! But I have been known to change my mind. The concept of has changed and the reasons to get married have changed. Back in the day, you only lived until 30.

I never thought of it like that.

I am happy and I don’t want to mess that up. We used to get married for survival, as women. We needed a man to literally live.

I think I still do…which says a lot about my evolution as a woman. Do you ever want ?

I do really want kids. I love teaching and it gives me a feeling of completion, like I am sharing my gifts. It would be fun to have that connection with your own child, ya know?

I do know. What three qualities are important for you to have in a man?

Do I only get three?

Yes. This is not a world where we can all get exactly what we want all the time.

Yes it is!

You’re right.

He would definitely have to be creative. Whether he likes , music, or whatever. Anything having to do with art! He also has to be strong, like a man’s man, you know?

I do.

And he should definitely be loyal and honest.

That’s four. So, now you have to choose—loyal or honest?

Are they the same?

You can’t try and take both.

Loyal.

Wow. I can’t believe you want a dishonest guy!

That’s not fair (laughs).

Do you have any favorite spots around here?

I go to lunch at sometimes. And I have been to with some kids I work with. And is so great. They have some good stuff in there. I highly recommend.

Any Halloween plans?

I will get dressed up! I don’t know what I will be, but I like putting on , whether it’s or not.

I won’t even ask what that means.
