Officials Exploring Solar To Heat Upcoming GUSD Aquatics Center
Board members would like to forgo traditional natural gas heating for pools.
About a year from now, Glendale Unified will officially open a brand new aquatics center and in that time, officials will explore more environmentally-friendly methods to reduce costs.
The pool, which will be built at Glendale High School, is projected to cost the Glendale Unified School District $200,000 to $300,000 a year in maintenance. The pool will serve all of the GUSD.
Officials have recently hired Texas-based Jacobs Engineering to research a few renewable energy alternatives to providing comfortable water temperatures and maintenance, according to the Glendale News-Press, one of those methods may involve solar power.
