Patch Letter: Support Glendale's Bicycle Transportation Plan

Hello Glendale Cyclists and Pedestrians,

There are actually two meetings next week that we want to tell you about.

First, Glendale City Council will be reviewing the Draft Bicycle Transportation Plan during a special study session on Tuesday, March 27, starting at 3 p.m. The meeting is open to the public. The agenda should be posted here by Friday, and the updated Draft Plan has been posted here. 

We encourage everyone to attend the meeting on Tuesday and speak in support of an updated bike master plan in Glendale. We realize this is a difficult time for most people to attend in person. If you can't attend the meeting, please make sure that you send an e-mail to citycouncil@ci.glendale.ca.us expressing your support. Be sure to ask your friends to attend or send an e-mail as well. 

Your support in-person or via e-mail is critical. We've been contacted by several community members recently regarding efforts to oppose the bike plan or current bike projects in Glendale. We expect some opposition at the study session on Tuesday so it's extra important that City Council hear from as many supporters from the community as possible. 

The second meeting next week will be a Community Outreach Meeting for the Proposed "Road Diet" Pilot Project on Honolulu Avenue The meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 28 at the , 1613 Glencoe Way, starting at 7 p.m. This will be an informational meeting about what is being proposed and how the city plans to execute the project. This will be the first of two meetings scheduled. If you are interested in this project or if you support it, we urge you to attend. We do expect opposition at this meeting. The city has set up a special web-page for this project, which you can review here.
