Pharmaceutical Rep Seeks Paperless Love

One might wonder if there were a woman out there that didn't dream of a long white gown, a fancy wedding cake and a white picket fence…but then I met Melinda.

When I first went on my hunt for cool local singles, I was feeling lucky. And I should have felt lucky, because I ran into Melinda behind the ; Melinda was a lovely lady , I knew there had to be more to her story than just plants and hybrids. So, I reached out with my fingers crossed and she agreed to spill the beans about living the single life. Reaffirming that men often believe that the key to a woman’s heart is through fancy cars, I was reminded of how happy I am to be married…at least when it came to that side of the coin. But it wasn’t until Melinda told me about her secret crush that I seriously began to wonder if love was really blind after all.

You look like a very busy gal. What are you doing here?

I am sneaking a few minutes to myself before heading off to work. I'm in the industry, so I am lucky enough to get breaks here and there. I was having lunch with my friend at her home right here.

Nice. Do you live close by?

No, not anymore. I used to live in La Crescenta, but my work is still in Montrose. A few months ago, I relocated west of here. I also still workout over here at .

I like that place. Are you single?

I am. I date, but I am not looking for marriage necessarily. I would love to have a partner in , you know. I want someone to share my life with, but not necessarily have a piece of paper like a marriage certificate to show for it. I believe in love, but don’t know if marriage is necessary. If the guy really wanted to, I would think about it. I have an amazing life, good friends and a great career. But I have been to more weddings than Elizabeth Taylor. I also throw a great shower.

Do you want kids someday?

No. I am not looking to have kids. It's just the way I am. But I do love my friends' kids and planning their showers. I think it's my southern hospitality that makes me such a great party thrower. Is that a word...”thrower?”

I don't know. I should probably know that answer, though. What three qualities do you look for in a guy?

I would like a man with honesty, humor and ambition. I mean, obviously you want the physical attraction, too. But some things override that initially. I believe that the universe gives you exactly what you ask for. And with that said, I will probably get Stanley Tucci.

The actor? You may be the only one! Give it a try.  I shouldn’t judge.

Judge all you want. I need to stop judging so much, too.

Judging is only an outlet for our insecurities. Clearly, my insecurities are alive and well. Do you have a nightmare dating story?

Oh my God. Yes. I went out with this guy twice and realized he was totally psycho and creepy, so I broke it off. The next day, he e-mailed me a photo of himself sitting in a silly sports car! And it read: 'Look at what you are missing.' I was like: bullet dodged.

He thought he could get you interested with and flashy , huh?

So many men think that those things impress women. I guess it works on some, but not all. There is more to life than that.

Where do you take your lunch breaks in Montrose?

has sandwiches to go and I think I am addicted to the turkey sub! I just had one yesterday.

Do you approach men much?

No. Never. I have mastered the art of playing hard to get. But I have been trying to be more open lately like being receptive to glances, smiling, whatever.

I think I saw Stanley Tucci walk by…

Now, he is a man that I could live with. I just couldn't deal with the ups and downs of the everyday 's life, trying to get the audition and struggling. I need security. Stanley has poise, a sense of , loyalty, grace and maturity. Who doesn't want that?

I do! And I like the first name basis thing. Nice touch to toss that idea into the universe. I think you just may get your wish.
