Education Volunteer Opportunity at the Rosemont Preserve
Helping Children Learn through NatureEducation is a key goal of the Rosemont Preserve. This school year, local elementary school students will once again have the opportunity to visit the Preserve and learn from volunteer docents.
We are seeking volunteers to lead small groups (7 to 9) of elementary school students on educational walks through the Preserve. No experience or special knowledge is necessary, just an interest in nature and enthusiasm in helping children learn.
Our next docent volunteer training will be held at the Preserve on Tuesday, October 15th from 9:30 to 11:30am. This training will prepare you to work with 3rd grade classes learning about native plants and plant adaptations. We will provide all the materials and information that you need, all you need to bring is an open mind and sturdy shoes!
Future training sessions will address:
- Tongva native inhabitants of the Crescenta Valley (3rd and 4th grades)
- geology, plate tectonics, and the evolution of our local landscapes through earthquakes, fires and floods (6th grade).
Please join us in helping children learn through nature!
RSVP for docent training via email to RosemontFriends @gmail.com by October 10th.
