Rosemont Preserve Guided Walk; "Discovering Native California Plants and Their Many Uses"
Please join us for a tour of the Rosemont Preserve where we will focus on the uses of the native flora. Learn to identify the local native plants and sample chia seeds, elderberries and other native foods along the way. We will discuss the various food, medicinal, spiritual and practical uses of native plants as they have been used in Southern California for thousands of years.
Our guide will be Tim Martinez, Outreach Coordinator for the Arroyo Seco Foundation, where he leads hikes and lectures on the traditional uses of native plants. Tim is also a board member of the Arroyos & Foothills Conservancy, and is passionate about preserving native habitat for future generations.
The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, please park at Two Strike Park. Please wear sturdy shoes and long pants. This event is open to the public, suitable for all ages and completely free, no reservations required. In the event of rain, the tour will be cancelled. Sorry, no pets please.
