Science Lecture Series: Sharks and Whales in the Sea of Cortes: Biodiversity and Conservation

“Sharks and Whales in the Sea of Cortés: Biodiversity and Conservation” will be

presented at Glendale Community College on Tuesday, November 24 at 12:20 p.m. in Cimmarusti Science Center room 177 as part of the Science Lecture Series.

The speakers are Dr. Javier Gago and Dr. Maria Kretzmann, GCC biology professors and directors of the Baja California Field Studies Program.

Sharks and whales represent two of the most interesting and iconic groups of marine animals. The Sea of Cortés is one of the most unique marine habitats on Earth and it has not escaped the human impact that is so evident worldwide. The speakers will discuss the biology of these two groups of animals and some of the conservation issues affecting the species in the Sea of Cortés.
