Sitting on the Babies
Patch provides a list of local, trustworthy childcare service providers.
Finding time for yourself is almost impossible in today's world. Taking a little "time out" for yourself can be tricky, but a tiny bit of planning can make all of the difference for your sanity.
That "time out" oftentimes involves finding a reliable source of childcare, which is why Patch is providing the "hook up" for five local, trusted sources of babysitting.
1. "Moms Day Out." This program, offered by the First Baptist Church, provides babysitting service from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. The cost is $20 for one child or $35 for two. There are several rooms for children from eight weeks old to five years. There is a low child-to-teacher ratio, and daily activities. Making a reservation a few days ahead of time is strongly encouraged. Call them at 818-249-5832.

2. "Parents Day Out." The Crescenta-Canada Family YMCA offers this service every Monday and Wednesday in the child care room. The cost is $20 per day and is available for children ages 2-5. Children can play both inside and in the enclosed outdoor patio. The YMCA also has "Date Night" babysitting available in the evening (normally on a Friday night) once or twice a month, but it is not scheduled on a regular basis. Call 818-790-0123 for additional information.
3. "Parents Night Out." Similarly, offers childcare the first Friday night of every month from 6-10 p.m. No reservations are needed for children ages 2-12, but for children under the age of 2 call one week ahead of time. Activities include making crafts, playing pool, or singing along with the band. This babysitting service is donation-based, and the suggested donation is whatever amount you would normally pay a sitter. Donations are used for youth missionary trips to build houses in the Dominican Republic.
