Local girl scout Kate Linkchorst is on a mission: bring the heavens to people on earth.
Kate is hosting her last in a series of community star gazing workshops on June 30 from 7 to 9 p.m. at , 2902 Montrose Avenue in La Crescenta. The event is free and open to the public.
The otherwordly star gazing workshop is the final step in Kate's Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest earned award in Girl Scouts.

Several telescopes are available for adults and children to look at the stars and the moon.
Workshops are designed to engage children by studying the sky and creating hands-on activities, including constellation creation (see photo), learning planets, how constellations get their names and what satellites can tell us.
