“The Firebugs” by Max Frisch and translated by Mordecai Gorelik
opens in the Glendale Community College Auditorium Studio Theatre at 8 p.m. on Thursday,
May 1.
Additional
shows are May 2, 3, 8, 9 and 10 at 8 p.m. with a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. on May
4.
Frisch’s play may be regarded as a hilarious, almost
slapstick farce or as a satirical attack against complacency depending on the
point of view one brings to it. Using dramatic techniques as old as allegory
and as new as the Theatre of the Absurd, Frisch reveals the actions and
attitudes of people confronted with a powerful and ruthless enemy.
