Whiz Kid: The Well-Rounded Avery Barnes

Avery is a spy trainer extraordinaire, musical genius and advocate for the less fortunate.

Key to Awesomeness: Avery is about as well-rounded as they come! She is an honor roll student who loves to write, has musical talents to boot, is the co-founder of a summer camp, and donates her time to service projects.

Avery has an impressive academic repertoire. At , she earned rewards on the Honor Roll every trimester, was Student of the Month every year, and received the Presidents Award for Excellence.

In addition to being an upstanding student, Avery plays the viola and is a member of the Glendale Honors Orchestra. She is also a talented singer who has performed in musical theatre and numerous talent shows.

In her spare time, she loves to write fiction and serves on the Junior Advisory Board for the where she reads and comments on books that are being released.

Avery's name means "leader of elves," which seems to suit her perfectly as she loves and is constantly surrounded by children. She is the co-founder of a week-long summer "Spy Camp" for girls. This year will mark the second camp she has hosted.

But her interest in kids expands beyond local borders. She actively participates in service projects that benefit children. Avery looms hats for children at Children's Hospital, ties quilts for the needy, and collected and donated over 300 pairs of shoes to donate to "Soles4souls" during the Haitian earthquake crisis.
