College Wind Ensemble Seeks Members

The class is in danger of not meeting its enrollment quota.

The Moorpark College Wind Ensemble is still accepting members and is especially in need of oboe, saxophone, french horn, trombone, tuba, string bass and percussion players.

The program is open to all college students (music majors and non-music majors), motivated high school students and lifelong learners. Each ensemble class is worth 2 units (transferrable to UC and CSU) and costs less than $100 (except for high school students, for which it's free). No audition is required to enroll, however auditions for chair placement will occur during the third week of class.

This semester, flautist Jenni Olson will perform as the ensemble's guest artist at its May 13 concert. As well, tuba player and director Pat Sheridan and the UCLA Brass Ensemble might also be performing at the concert. The Wind Ensemble will also be performing for the largest fundraiser of the year for the Simi Valley Historical Society.

The wind ensembles' rehearsals take place from 6 to 9:50 p.m. Tuesdays. Those interested in joining should enroll regularly and attend the next Tuesday rehearsal. High school students should get the enrollment paperwork ahead of time and bring it on Tuesday for the instructor to sign.
