Detective-Involved Shooting Leaves Man Dead

The man allegedly advanced on the detectives while armed.

At about 2 p.m. Friday, detectives shot and killed a man who advanced on them while armed, the Sheriff’s department said.

The detectives were responding to a call about a man creating a disturbance on the 1700 block of Citrus Drive in the unincorporated area of Moorpark near Hitch Blvd. En route, the detectives were advised the man was armed with a gun, said Capt. Dave Murray of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.

When the detectives arrived, the armed man advanced on them aggressively and, fearing for their safety, one or both of the detectives shot him, according to Murray, who could not verify the man was armed with a gun.
