Driving the Future: Ventura County Launches "Workforce on Wheels" (WOW)

This state-of-the-art mobile career training lab represents a pivotal shift in how our community tackles the healthcare labor shortage—by bringing the workforce services directly to the neighborhood.

Breaking Barriers to Entry

For many Ventura County residents, the biggest hurdle to a high-demand career isn't a lack of ambition; it’s a lack of transportation. The WDBVC’s WOW will help eliminate that obstacle. As a "career training center on wheels," this fully equipped facility will roam the county, providing residents in underserved areas with direct access to online training and certifications for critical roles, including:

• Clinical Medical Assistants

• Phlebotomists

• Medical Billing Specialists

A Collaborative Milestone

The launch event at the Ventura County Office of Education’s (VCOE) Conference Center brought together local leadership. Speakers including Dr. Cesar Morales (VCOE), Rebecca Evans (WDBVC Executive Director), Anthony Terlizzi (Career TEAM), Randall Sherman (Program Participant), and Estelle Bussa (County of Ventura EVSP) highlighted how Workforce Development Board integrates WOW into their many job and career programs. WOW isn’t just a bus; it offers a lifeline, connecting the community to dedicated career coaching to ensure individuals move from enrollment to employment.
