Hate me..Love me...Immigration...This must be said!

I have always been an advocate for people, animals and the rights we were guaranteed through our Constitution. But..I swore I would never write a political article ..especially on a heated topic like IMMIGRATION....but I guess I really feel a need to

I have always been for the underdog, my entire life..but sometimes  the underdog may not be who you think...you think?

For many years I have been involved with persons who have been dealt a bad hand. I worked with  challenged adults and children. I worked with animal rights both domestic and afar. I have worked with the deaf and hearing impaired and those veterans that have been forgotten from WWI and II, Korea and Vietnam. I have worked with limited English speakers, from many countries. All in all..I have felt that what I was doing was right and just...the nuns programmed me this way

So this is why it may sound odd to those who know me, that my take on this whole immigration fiasco..disaster..may not sound like me. Oh well!

I am all for people wanting to come to America for a better life. My family members, my ancestors, did just that. They came from Sicily..from Naples...from Spain...and they ALL came through Ellis Island as far back as the 1800's. I have seen their boat passes and their very names written on the books from Ellis Island. I know of their hardships in coming here and how some had to wait 10-15-20 years to get here, saving every dime.

I also have family who had no wait and had the means to come here and doing so, started their business in New York and employed many of those who weren't welcome. Yes..there were many who weren't greeted with open arms...didn't you know that?

The Irish were treated horribly by many who then, in turn, treated the Italians and Sicilians in the same unwelcome manner. It was a dog eat dog climate..everyone struggling in a new country except the rich Europeans who had money and didn't like to share. The oppressed became the oppressors..it happens all the time.... everywhere.

Now, I'm not here to give the readers a History lesson 101..but truth is truth..remember..it sets you free? Not for some it appears.

The agriculture department has been talking out of two sides of their mouth for a very long time..at least 100years. When slavery was no longer the way to go..the crops and the farms needed tending...they needed help and some person at some time along the way discovered really cheap..almost free labor in those who weren't legal. They would work for almost nothing under horrible conditions and not complain...remember Grapes of Wrath?

Well this great idea grew and many came here to work the fields ( and the clothing industries as well) and everyone was happy..right? WRONG!

After a long time these abused and used workers wanted rights..some form of humane treatment..so we allowed education for them in our schools and we allowed health care and then housing other than a filthy garage with a bucket to eliminate in. (oh, yes, those were the better conditions at one time)

So this country encouraged those people who were still working under terrible conditions and low pay, by issuing housing for them through the agricultural department..so low they couldn't pass it up ( @ $450 for a 3 bedroom fully equipped with washer and dryer( state of the art) park like settings and even tutoring for their kids) Not bad considering most rents for a 3 bedroom in Ventura or Santa Barbara area are anywhere from $2000 and up.

The encouragement continued as our congress reported how we were surpressing sneaking into this country and deportation was on the rise. Saying one thing, doing another.

But all these years of illegal immigration to help this country prosper has gone array. Now we are running out of resources...citizens can barely get into colleges and low cost housing is a joke (unless you are an agricultural worker)

Claims that these amenities are only for legals is..well you know..bull!

There are few in office who will ever talk the truth..guess they don't want to be set free! They say what is PC (politically correct) kiss babies and write books and appear on Fox news.

If I sound cynical..I guess getting older has made me wiser. I am so tired of these talks and human rights speakers when I constantly have nightmares about those women and children in Africa..Russia and other parts of our world, who are being tortured, raped, murdered and their sons as young as 10 are forced to wield semi automatics and kill everyday..sometimes their own families.

These women and children are not sneaking into this country..they can't..some have snuck in or overstayed their visas and have been returned to be killed or their children sacrificed to the evil doers who have taken power. We don't speak of them much, do we? Why?

Because they have no economic value to America. We don't prosper by them and they can't do for us as those toiling the fields and sweating in the sweat shops

Then I hear Anti-Immigrant Invasion people stating boldly, "give us the migrant jobs..we need work as citizens", but I don't believe their rant. How many men or women do you know, white, black, whatever who would work in those hot fields, bent backs and few, if any, benefits? How many would be complaining, filing suit and asking for a raise? Get my point!

So here I come back full circle( or semi-circle) to my point or points why I even wrote this darn thing...because I really am still an advocate for those who need one..those underdogs of society..those who seem to be falling through the cracks.

It's my solid opinion that we do have a serious immigration epidemic of people flooding our country without permission..proper permission. We have children suffering because the open welcome, that is hidden by politics and fork tongued speakers, have instigated these innocents to be forced by inconsiderate unthinking parents/family to brave the harsh conditions to come here illegally, teaching them no respect for rules, laws or another country.

If anyone even attempts getting into a foreign country without proper papers and legal docs they are imprisoned..some countries shot...everyone but the USA seems to believe this is unacceptable, yet we allow it, tolerate it, encourage it and then deny all of the above. Hey..I'm confused!

I say proper channels, documentation and PATIENCE must be enforced. Asylum for those we KNOW are being violated and murdered by rebels and crazy dictators must have top preference and not wait 2-5-10 yrs to come here. Asylum means protection..remember when we were the protectors of the world?

If your coming here because where you are from is harsh poor living conditions and you want a more prosperous life and a chance for you and your children..then go about it properly..fill out the papers truthfully ( not use your brothers ID or your fake uncle's fake address). It's hard to save the money to come here, but the coyotes sure don't sneak anyone in for free. Be patient and your family will legally come to this country..become a citizen or have duel citizenship. It's worth it all to wait and do it right..lawfully.Then you will have the rights we all have here..to complain..to sue..to ask for a raise..and to know nobody is going to make you up and leave.

I want to see change..for the better.Change in attitude from everyone..citizens, non-citizens, law makers, politicians. I really want the hate and the ignorance of others to stop. This country is a melting pot of many cultures, people from all over the world. We are unique and must believe in what our forfathers were thinking when they wrote The Constitution. It has been abused..slavery...the only TRUE AMERICANS..The Native Americans..they have suffered under the abuse of those words. It's up to a New America to rise , admit the errors and horrors of the past and move forward as we were intended to be...UNITED!

Anything is possible when we see truth and stop disguising it. Any problem we may have with immigration, equality, antiquated laws and governmental practices, and each other must be discussed rationally, all views heard and compromises must be made..but fairness must be upheld.

Think about it..what's fair about this whole ordeal? How can we instill and implement fairness so everyone has a chance to prosper, be happy and be free! Hey there..that sounds similar to something this country was supposingly based on. Let's do it right ...this time!     Namaste!

#Whew! That felt good to get all that off my chest! Solving world problems is tiresome though! Think I'll take a nap!

****if you agree with me...hurray! If you don't, you have the right to your opinion...but let's hear YOUR solution..using the FAIRNESS model!
