Law Enforcement Officials Make 138 DUI Arrests So Far in Holiday Anti-DUI Campaign
The countywide Avoid the 14 effort continues through New Year's Day
On its 10th day of a 17-day crackdown that ends on New Year’s Day, Avoid the 14, which involves and is named for the number of police departments in the county, is still seeing a rise in driving under the influence arrests, according to a report issued by the Avoid the 14 campaign.
As of Christmas morning, police officers, sheriff’s deputies and California Highway Patrol officers had arrested 138 DUI suspects since the crackdown began Dec. 16, compared with 133, the report said. Law enforcement agencies made 16 DUI arrests for Christmas Eve in Ventura County, one less than the total during the same time last year.
Maximum CHP freeway enforcement continues until Monday.

“Every available officer is on the roads,” said CHP Lt. April Baxter, who leads the Moorpark office.
