Meet An “Amazing” Devoted To A Patient-Center Practice

Dr. Charles Godfrey, at 100, was still treating patients 4 days a week.

(CBC News)

Dr. Charles Godfrey, at 100, was still treating patients 4 days a week at 4 different medical clinics. Before that, among other positions, Dr. Charles was a Professor with the University of Toronto’s Department of Rehabilitative Medicine, and Director of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Toronto East General Hospital.

“Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation” has been a life-long passion for Dr. Charles, as it combines a commitment to the art of patient care (what used to be called a “bedside manner”) along with the more “hard-science” aspects of diagnosis and treatment. Even as technology changes how physicians practice medicine, Dr. Charles stresses the importance of taking personal interest in patients as part of the healing process itself. Wise words indeed.
