Meet an “Amazing” Who Can’t Get Enough of His True Love – Ballet

Robert Barnett, 91, coaches dancers for the George Balanchine Foundation Video Archives.

Robert Barnett, at 91, somehow can’t seem to retire as either a stager or a ballet teacher. Among his recent gigs--coaching dancers in New York for the George Balanchine Foundation Video Archives. After his time in the US Navy during WWII, Robert studied dance with Nijinska and had a brief stint in the original Ballet Russe, before joining the New York City Ballet. In 1962, Robert became the artistic director of the famed Atlanta Ballet, a position he held for over 30 years. His accolades are too numerous to mention, and his contribution to ballet, legendary.
