Meet an “Amazing” Who Rows And Runs

Jeanne simply wants to be the best she can be, right now.

Jeanne Daprano, at 81, once known as the “running teacher” to her elementary school students, is still running. Only now, with more passion than ever, as she competes not only as a runner, but as a champion rower as well. Jeanne broke the women’s world record in the 80- to-84 age group, rowing 2,000 meters in 9:23.7. As a runner, Jeanne has broken the women’s world record for the 70-year-old age group mile, and the 75-year-old women's age group for both the 400 meters and 800 meters. What makes Jeanne’s feats particularly intriguing is that she’s not rowing/running in order to increase her chances of long life, although science proves again and again that exercise is a primary way to add years to your life, she’s interested in the quality of those years. Jeanne simply wants to be the best she can be, right now.

What a great example for us all.
