Meet An “Amazing” Who Runs For The Joy And Mental Release

Eileen didn't start running until her 50s.

Eileen Noble, at 84, ran her 19th marathon in London, happy as ever to be out there in her running shoes. Although Eileen didn’t start running until her 50s, and then found herself immediately winded--it was love at first run. Eileen runs for the physical joy of it, but also because she finds that running clears her mind, that she can let go of any worries or cares when she’s running. She also appreciated that her latest marathon supported hospice care in the UK.

Eileen doesn’t think of herself as older, and sees no reason why she shouldn’t continue her regular schedule of runs: 4 days a week; usually 3 to 4 miles on 3 of those days, more on the 4th. Her daughter speaks of her mom as an inspiration. No big surprise, then, that Eileen sees running as something most people can do--a challenge, perhaps, but an achievable one. Indeed an inspiring attitude.
