Meet An “Amazing” Who Swims, Climbs And Skydives

Shirley's athleticism was inspired by her daughter who didn't think it was good for her mom to just sit around.

Shirley Radecki, at 90, won not one, but two medals as a swimmer in the 2019 National Senior Games; the women’s 50-yard backstroke gold medal, and the women’s 100-yard backstroke silver medal. Shirley’s athleticism was inspired by her daughter who didn’t think it was good for her mom to just sit around and that she needed to be among active seniors with a goal in mind.

To that end, Shirley skydived at 85, climbed 14,000 feet up Mount Kilimanjaro at 87 and bungee jumped in New Zealand. Shirley’s looking forward to her next skydive at 95, and in the meantime, swims and golfs as much as possible. Way to go, Shirley.
