Moorpark High Girls Volleyball Takes on Royal
The team will play at home tonight; also for the third year in a row, the Moorpark-Thousand football showdown came down to the last minute ... literally.

After a 10-day break, Moorpark High’s girls volleyball team plays host to Royal at 6 tonight, followed by another Marmonte match Thursday at 6 p.m. at Agoura.
The Musketeers, coached by Brendon Hanson, are 7-3, but the girls have played at home only once. Moorpark and Newbury Park are the only Marmonte teams yet to play a league match, though Moorpark did defeat Newbury Park in a tournament game 10 days ago in San Luis Obispo.

“We had a heartbreaker,” Moorpark quarterback Grant Rohach said.
Moorpark was hoping for better after defeating Palos Verdes by 11 points two weeks earlier in the season opener. Instead, the loss was a tough way to begin Marmonte League competition, but there are eight league games remaining in what is the biggest league in California, so the Musketeers have no choice but to get back to work—immediately.
Moorpark plays the next two games on the road, beginning with a Friday matchup at Newbury Park,an angry opponent coming off a 9-0 upset loss to Simi Valley.
“We’re moving on and getting prepared for Newbury Park,” Rohach said.
Moorpark amassed 401 yards of total offense in the loss to Thousand Oaks, as Rohach completed 14 of 24 passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns, but he was intercepted three times, including a costly 67-yard interception return for a touchdown by Blake Howell. Plus, the Musketeers were penalized six times for 75 yards, as Thousand Oaks came from seven points down with four minutes, 46 seconds remaining.
Some of the highlights for Moorpark included two touchdown passes by Rohach, including a 40-yarder to Chad Hansen. Aaron Stanton rushed for 131 yards.
