• Out with the old (mpacorn.com) — Moorpark's City Council has approved a $127,741 contract to demolish obsolete modular buildings at 799 Moorpark Avenue, part of the old City Hall campus. Work is expected in October, with dust-control measures and hydroseeding planned as the city advances its long-term Civic Center Master Plan for the 14.6-acre site.

• Moorpark College to present bilingual production of 'Our Town' (simivalleyacorn.com) — Moorpark residents can catch a bilingual English-Spanish production of "Our Town" at Moorpark College's Performing Arts Center from Oct. 8-18, with evening and matinee shows plus free weekday matinees for high school students. Tickets are discounted for students and seniors, and online buyers get an extra break as part of the college's 60th anniversary celebration.

• Simi Valley man arrested in fatal Santa Rosa Valley hit-and-run (simivalleyacorn.com) — CHP investigators from the Moorpark Area have arrested a 70-year-old Simi Valley man in connection with a June hit-and-run that killed a Camarillo resident on Santa Rosa Road. The suspect was booked on felony hit-and-run, later released on bail, and officers are still asking anyone with additional information to contact the CHP Ventura Communications Center.
