You CAN Live a BETTER Life!

What if you could have a better life?   Jesus spoke of this:

“I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.”  John 10:10

Here’s our problem.  We typically say to such an offer: I will consider this SOMEDAY.

Here’s the problem with SOME-DAY-THINKING--LIFE IS FLYING, while we are waiting to really live it.

Do you realize the only time we don’t mind life moving swiftly is when we are young?  If you are less than ten years old and someone asks how old you are, you answer: FOUR AND A HALF GOING ON FIVE.

But we use different phrases as we age…we are no longer “going on”, but we say, she TURNED 30 (like milk turns sour).  We say he is PUSHING 40.

You REACH 50, you MADE IT to 60 and you HIT 70.

By the time you are in your 80’s it’s no longer about years.  I HIT lunch.  I REACHED bedtime.

Jesus said something insightful about people of His day:

“To what, then, can I compare the people of this generation?  What are they like?  They are like children sitting in the market place and calling out to each other: ‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not cry.’”                                      Luke 7:31

Jesus expressed:  I played the music of LIFE for you, but you didn’t dance.  You didn’t enjoy life.  You were always waiting to live.  You were stuck in the ‘some day’ syndrome.  Then, when pain and problems came your way, you didn’t cry, you didn’t experience the feelings of life; you didn’t risk, you just didn’t LIVE.

God has put you on this earth and given you the most sacred gift of all, the gift of life and He challenges us to use it, to live it, to seize each and every day.

It was Jonathan Swift who wrote:  May you LIVE every day of your life.   There’s wisdom in that.

We vastly overestimate the power of yesterday and tomorrow and vastly underestimate the power of living fully today.
