• Residents urged to stay alert and report sightings as agencies track lion on Summit Drive (krcrtv.com) — A young mountain lion has been spotted on Summit Drive in Mount Shasta, and state and county wildlife officials are actively trying to safely capture it. Agencies are using trained dogs and closely monitoring the area, and residents near Summit Drive west of I-5 are urged to stay alert and promptly report any new sightings to local law enforcement.
   

• Deer Used California's First Wildlife Overcrossing Just 15 Hours After Construction Crews Left (activenorcal.com) — Drivers traveling between Mount Shasta and the Klamath Basin now benefit from California’s first wildlife overcrossing on U.S. 97 in Siskiyou County, already used by deer and other animals within hours of completion. The new structure aims to cut dangerous wildlife-vehicle collisions in this heavily traveled, wildlife-rich corridor while improving safety for both motorists and large mammals.
