SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA – The California Highway Patrol released two photos of the possible object that flew through a Mountain View motorist's windshield striking him in the neck and killing him as he was driving on U.S. Highway 101 Friday.

"It appears this may have been the projectile that may have been kicked by passing traffic," said the Redwood City CHP office, adding that it is not officially confirmed.

Witnesses said the man, who appeared to be in his early 80s, was struck by the item when it smashed through his windshield near Willow Road in Menlo Park, said CHP Officer Art Montiel.
