'Free Speech' Rallies Planned At Google Offices

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- Rallies organized by Jack Posobiec, a self-described "New Right conservative," and a coalition of free-speech activists from around the United States are planned outside Google headquarters in Silicon Valley and "anywhere else Google has offices." The demonstrations scheduled to take place Saturday, Aug. 19 are because "Google is an anti-free speech monopoly," organizers say.

The right-wing group says it has invited former Google engineer James Damore -- recently terminated by the internet search giant after his 10-page internal memo focusing on diversity issues surrounding females and males in the tech workplace -- to speak at the event.

March on Google organizers say they are calling for peaceful demonstrations and that they join President Donald Trump "in condemning the actions in Charlottesville," Aug. 12.

"Despite many false rumors from those seeking to discredit us we are in no way associated with any group who organized there," organizers state.

The rallies are set to begin at 10 a.m. Pacific Time/1 p.m. Eastern Time Saturday in Mountain View, New York City, Washington, DC, Austin, Boston, Seattle, Atlanta, Los Angeles and Pittsburgh, according to Marchongoogle.com.

In Mountain View, demonstrators are planning to meet at Charleston Park.
