A counter-protest is also scheduled. Security plans are in the works.
BERKELEY, CA — Berkeley Police and other law enforcement agencies are formulating plans to deal with a right-wing event planned for later this month.
The "No to Marxism in America" host is listed as Amber Cummings. It will take place in Berkeley's Martin Luther King, Jr. Civic Center Park on Sunday Aug. 27 from 1 to 5 p.m.
A counter-protest for that event, "Bay Area Rally Against Hate," is scheduled to take place at University of California at Berkeley starting at 10:30 a.m.

Berkeley has already been the site this year of multiple events organized by white nationalists, most recently in late April following the cancellation of a planned speech by conservative commentator Ann Coulter at
University of California at Berkeley.
The planned Berkeley event resulted in a social media faux pas when a spokesman for the Alameda County Sheriff's Office, researching a planned participant of the event, accidentally retweeted something from white nationalist Richard Spencer.
