Happy 72nd Anniversary to Ed & Virginia Gonzales of Mountain View!

The pair were married in August 1942!

Eufemio “Ed” and Virginia Gonzales of Mountain View met when they were young -- very young. Their families were field workers in the 1930s-’40s, and the two knew each other throughout elementary school.

Virginia, her sisters and foster brother were being raised by their mother, who passed away when Virginia was a young teen. Since Virginia was so young, Eufemio promised he would “always take care of her” -- and that he did!

On August 7, 1942 - one day after Eufemio’s 18th birthday - he “snuck” 16-year-old Virginia out of her house, and they drove to Carson City, Nevada, where they were married on August 8th.

They moved to Mountain View in 1955, living on Vassar Avenue in Rex Manor for a number of years before settling on San Simeon Drive in 1962. There, Ed, now 90, and Virginia, 88, raised four daughters and still reside.

Their four “girls” -- plus a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren - gathered last weekend to celebrate the remarkable milestone!

And where did they go? To enjoy Ed and Virginia’s “favorite juicy ribs” at TGI Fridays in Cupertino, where the restaurant staff was kind enough to ”break their rules” and allowed the sweet couple and their family to make a reservation for their anniversary dinner.
