📰 News we're reading
• With just one unit filled, Mountain View Whisman sells stake in Palo Alto educator housing complex (mv-voice.com) — Mountain View Whisman School District is pulling out of a Palo Alto teacher housing project after most of its 12 reserved units sat empty, and will receive a full refund. District staff now favor the newer 144-unit employee complex near Shoreline and Middlefield in Mountain View, where rents are lower and occupancy has climbed to 93%.

• Roadwork to blame for Miramonte Avenue gas leak in Mountain View (mv-voice.com) — Roadwork on Miramonte Avenue in Mountain View's Cuesta Park neighborhood ruptured a shallow gas line Tuesday morning, forcing evacuations, shelter-in-place orders, and traffic disruptions near Miramonte and Hans. Fire crews and PG&E stopped the leak within about an hour, after which air readings cleared and residents were allowed to return home while police managed traffic.

• Redwood City Police admit to improper street camera data sharing (mv-voice.com) — Redwood City police revealed that misconfigured license plate reader settings allowed at least 99 unauthorized database searches, prompting audits and a new vendor search. Mountain View is among several Bay Area cities that have also identified improper access to their plate reader data, raising broader regional questions about privacy, oversight, and how local agencies safeguard this technology.
