Pedestrian Struck By Car In Mountain View In Critical Condition

A pedestrian struck by a car on Monday in Mountain View is in critical condition, police said today.

Officers responded to reports of a male pedestrian struck near Charleston Road and Independence Avenue shortly before 9:30 a.m. Monday, police said.

The driver of a car that struck the pedestrian stayed at the scene and was cooperative with investigators, according to police.

A preliminary investigation indicated that the driver was leaving a shopping center parking lot and turned east onto Charleston Road, police said.

The pedestrian was crossing on Charleston Road at Independence Avenue and was struck by the car, according to police.

The victim was transported to a hospital and was in critical condition, police said today. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision, police said.
