Photos: Six Injured When Elderly Driver Crashes into Los Altos Trader Joe's
All of the victims were transported to the hospital.
Six people were injured but not seriously hurt today when a 75-year-old woman crashed her car into a Trader Joe’s grocery store in Los Altos, a police spokesman said.
Police were called at about 11:45 a.m. to the store at 2310 Homestead Road in Los Altos, east of the Foothill Expressway, where a woman in the parking lot had driven into the front doors of the business, Sgt. Brian Jeffrey said.
The woman’s Mercedes-Benz sedan struck a customer, who suffered minor injuries, outside the store and four other people inside the business also suffered minor injuries, Jeffrey said.

The driver was transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening, he said.
The five others were also transported to a hospital as a precaution, he said.

Police received conflicting statements about what caused the crash and are not sure as yet if it was due to a mechanical defect or operator error, he said.
The driver was not cited at the scene but authorities are reviewing the circumstances of the crash, he said.
