Police Seeking More Info About Man Shot By CHP Sunday On Hwy 101
A tan 2001 Volkswagen Beetle was found nearby and is believed to be associated with the suspect.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA – Belmont police are seeking more information about what led a California Highway Patrol officer to shoot and injure a man walking on U.S. Highway 101 early Sunday morning.
Belmont police have taken over the investigation into the shooting, which left the 41-year-old suspect with life-threatening injuries.
His name has not yet been released.

The shooting happened shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday when CHP officers received reports of a man walking on both sides of Highway 101 near Ralston Avenue, CHP officials said.
When the officers arrived, the man resisted. The officers tried to use a Taser stun gun on him, but it had no effect. The man pulled out a knife, raised it over his head and charged at an officer, prompting him to
open fire, according to the CHP.

The man was taken to a hospital. The officer who shot him also hasn't been identified.
Belmont police said Monday that a tan 2001 Volkswagen Beetle was found nearby and is believed to be associated with the suspect. It was parked on the southbound off-ramp to Holly Street. Investigators impounded the car as evidence for now.
While the suspect's name hasn't been released, Belmont police described him as a Hispanic man standing 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds with a shaved head and no facial hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt
with blue and red stripes and blue jeans when he was shot.
