Santa Clara School on Lockdown on First Day of Classes
Police activity in the area of Forbes Avenue prompted the decision.

A Santa Clara elementary school is on lockdown on the first day of classes today because of police activity in the area, according to a school district spokeswoman.
Police placed John D. Sutter Elementary School at 3200 Forbes Ave. on lockdown around 8:30 a.m., according to Santa Clara Unified School District spokeswoman Jennifer Dericco.
The school was locked down as a precaution due to undisclosed police activity around the perimeter of the campus, Dericco said.
