Week in Review: Mountain View Ditching Free Google WiFi; Hit and Run Driver Sought

Monday, Sept. 30

A 77-year-old Mountain View woman suffered moderate injuries when she was struck by a hit and run driver Monday morning as she tried to cross Rengstorff Avenue, according to a police spokesman.

Tuesday, Oct. 1    

James (Jim) Satake, a prominent member of the Mountain View community and an active member of the city's Japanese-American community, passed away at home on Friday, September 27. He was 89.

Wednesday, Oct. 2

Noise levels at this years's annual Beyond Wonderland rave concert exceeded what was anticipated or expected for a Shoreline concert, Mountain View officials said in a statement released by city officials acknowledging it received a large number of noise complaints. The statement included an apology for inconveniencing local residents.

Shares of Palo Alto-based Tesla Motors are fell sharply for a second straight day after a video capturing a Tesla Model S electric car that caught fire near Seattle on Tuesday went viral on YouTube.
