79th Annual Murrieta Firefighters BBQ This Weekend: What To Know When You Go

MURRIETA, CA— It is one of Southern California’s most storied traditions, held annually in Murrieta. On Saturday, Murrieta Fire & Rescue is hosting its 79th Annual Firefighters’ BBQ.

The Saturday event will run from noon until 6 p.m. at Town Square Park, located at 11 Town Square in Murrieta.

"What began as a fundraiser for the city's first fire truck has evolved into one of the longest-running community festivals in Riverside County, featuring firefighter-prepared smoked tri-tip, professional live entertainment," according to Dawn Morrison, spokesperson for the department.

There is also a high-energy Fire Cadet “Muster” Competition, which Morrison says is not to be missed.

The fixings are as delicious as they sound, and the entertainment is riveting.

• Firefighters will prepare and serve their smoked tri-tip, which many describe as "legendary."
• Fire Cadet Muster: Watch the future of the fire service compete in rigorous skill challenges.
