MURRIETA, CA — The Murrieta Public Library will reopen on Aug. 3 following a temporary closure for improvements to be completed on the outside and inside of the building, the city announced.
The enhancements are a part of the Library Expansion Project, and include new carpeting, flooring, and concrete repairs outside of the building at the public entrances and parking lot, city officials said.
The work was performed by R.C. Construction Services and contractor partners. The construction began July 20 and will end Aug. 1, the city said.
In-person services and programs, as well as all book-drops were unavailable to the public while the construction work is underway.
Digital resources, including eBooks, eAudiobooks, online databases, and other electronic services are currently available 24 hours, seven days a week through the library's webpage.
The ongoing $8 million library expansion project includes enlarging the Children's Library by 4,500 feet for learning, creativity, and play.
With funding from the California State Library, library development impact fees, Measure T, and community donations, the expansion will bring the children's area to over 7,200 square feet.
Construction began last September and is expected to be completed in Fall 2026.
