Another Garbage Truck Fire Erupts In Murrieta

Thursday's Waste Management trash truck blaze follows one Monday on northbound I-215 that involved a CR&R vehicle.

MURRIETA, CA — Days after a CR&R garbage truck fire snarled traffic on Interstate 215 in Murrieta, another blaze broke out Thursday in the city — this one involving a Waste Management trash truck.

Thursday's garbage truck fire was reported at approximately 9:51 a.m. in the 39800 block of Alta Murrieta Drive in the Floor & Decor store parking lot.

According to a witness, the Waste Management truck was heading southbound on Alta Murrieta Drive with smoke coming from the back. The witness alerted the driver, who pulled the truck into the parking lot in a large open area, away from any structures.

Fire crews arrived within a few minutes and quickly began attacking the blaze.

After a few minutes of applying water and cooling down the truck, the garbage was offloaded and crews continued dousing the rubbage. The fire was fully knocked down at 10:14 a.m.

The scene was ultimately turned over to representatives from Waste Management to clean up the mess and tow the truck.

There were no reported injuries.
