Coronavirus Stats, Updates: Riverside County

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — The number of confirmed coronavirus infections in Riverside County grew by 470 Thursday, and the number of deaths attributed to complications stemming from the virus went up six.

The aggregate number of cases recorded since the public health documentation period began in early March is 36,629, compared to 36,159 on Wednesday, according to the Riverside University Health System.

RUHS officials said the number of deaths tied to COVID- 19 stands at 688, up six from Wednesday.

Officials said the number of confirmed patient recoveries is 12,916. The county defines a recovery as someone who has not manifested symptoms for 14 days.

According to RUHS, 475 people are hospitalized for COVID-19, 15 less than Wednesday. Hospitalizations include 167 patients in intensive care units, up 14 since Wednesday.

Health officials said that between 118,000 and 175,400 county residents may have been infected by the coronavirus at some point since COVID- 19 reached the county, citing preliminary results of a recent randomized antibody test study. The study was conducted over two weekends this month and involved 1,726 randomly selected people. Read more about the study here.

The doubling time — or the number of days in which documented virus cases increase 100 percent — is 28 days. A doubling rate of seven days is considered severe.

Most of the county's deaths stemming from complications tied to COVID- 19 have been people between the ages of 65 and 84, according to RUHS.

The number of people screened for the virus countywide stands at 364,864.
