Flash Flood Warning Issued for Riverside County

The National Weather Service detected thunderstorm in the area that could trigger flooding.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Riverside county following radar report of thunderstorm activities.

The warning is in effect until 4:45 p.m. Thursday. Although, the storm has dissipated, additional storms remain possible Thursday afternoon, the agency said.

Additionally, runoff from the after storm is expected to continue for the next couple of hours so the threat of flash flood remains.

The NWS said the following areas may experience flooding:

  • Idyllwild-Pine Cove
  • Highway 243 between Banning and Idyllwild
  • Highway 74 between Hemet and Mountain Center
  • Mountain Center
  • Valle Vista and Saboba Indian Reservation

Areas around small creeks and streams and other low-lying areas are prone to flooding from excessive runoff following heavy rainfall, so residents should exercise caution when driving around these areas, the NWS said.
