Free Shredding Event Planned For Murrieta Residents: What To Know
Got a bag or boxes of papers to shred? Here's what you can bring and when to this city of Murrieta sponsored event.
MURRIETA, CA — Murrieta and Waste Management are holding a bulky item drop-off and shredding event on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., the city announced. The drop off location is at Murrieta City Hall Back Parking Lot, 1 Town Square. Please enter on southbound Jefferson into the Police Department parking lot.
"Mark your calendar for the upcoming Bulky Item Drop-Off and Shredding Event!" the announcement reads. "Bring those big items that are filling up your garage and the documents you need shredded, just in time for a thorough spring cleaning.
Items accepted for drop-off include: Washers, dryers, electronic equipment, microwaves, air conditioners, computers, refrigerators, freezers, chairs, couches, tables, box springs, mattresses, barbecue grills, patio furniture, bundled branches, and bagged green waste.

Items accepted for shredding include bags or boxes of paper. Note! The papers can be stapled. Large items can be dropped off for disposal here, but only if you have proof of Murrieta residency, according to the city.
"This event is exclusively for Murrieta residents and is free of charge (please bring identification, like a driver's license or utility bill)," the website states. "Should you have any questions about acceptable and non-acceptable items, please reach out to Waste Management at 800-423-9986."

The shredding is by drop off only, and there will be workers on site lending assistance.
The next bulk item and shredding drop-off event won't be until the fall, they said.

Tires, latex, oil or paint, fluorescent light tubes, empty drums, batteries, motor parts, pool chemicals, commercial or remodeling waste, transmission/brake fluid, weed killers/herbicides, bleach or tub cleaners, fertilizers, pesticides and rodent poisons, anti-freeze, solvents, gasoline, and engines.
