INLAND EMPIRE, CA — California Highway Patrol officers alerted drivers in the Inland Empire of multiple incidents on area roadways midday Tuesday, from minor crashes on the 91 Freeway to I-15 semi-truck-related incidents in both Murrieta and Temecula.

Temecula city streets east of Jefferson Avenue at Via Montezuma were blocked, as CHP officers provided escort services for the memorial of a Cal Fire/Riverside County Firefighter, Daniel "Danny" Cook. The services for the firefighter who died on New Year's Eve were slated to begin at 1 p.m.

Drivers were asked to follow signs and obey lane closures throughout the day on Tuesday.

The I-15 in Murrieta was a struggle when a travel trailer and big rig collided just after noon, CHP reported.

The big rig and travel trailer were both heading southbound on I-15 at California Oaks Road/Kalmia Street when they collided, CHP dispatch officers shared. Both vehicles had moved to the right-hand side of the freeway. The amount of damage was not immediately known. No one was injured in the trailer vs. semi-truck collision in Murrieta, CHP reported.

Further south in Temecula, another semi truck suffered a blown tire in the #3 lane at Temecula Parkway, State Route 79, according to CHP Dispatch.

"The semi's tire treads were in the #3 lane," dispatch operators said. The semi-truck continued southbound with its hazards on after losing a tire.

No other information was immediately available.

On Monday, a late-night head-on collision in Thousand Palms resulted in two major injuries, CHP shared.

The crash occurred shortly before 9:30 p.m. at Varner Road just west of Cook Street. There, a Hyundai and a Toyota collided in a head-on crash. Two adults were taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. No other information was immediately available, and neither alcohol nor drugs was suspected in the crash.
