Mortar, Artillery Fire From Camp Pendleton Heard In SW RivCo
Training exercises are being heard and felt in Temecula, Murrieta, Wildomar, Lake Elsinore, Canyon Lake, Menifee and surrounding areas.

SOUTHWEST RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — Cities and unincorporated areas across Southwest Riverside County are hearing explosions coming from Camp Pendleton this week, and the loud booms are scheduled to continue.
Troops are firing artillery and mortar from 6 a.m. to midnight in the Whiskey/Zulu Impact area on the base, west of Temecula.
The training exercises are being heard and felt in Temecula, Murrieta, Wildomar, Lake Elsinore, Canyon Lake, Menifee and surrounding areas.
According to base officials, the training will continue throughout this week and next.
The artillery and mortar fire exercises are a regular occurrence on Camp Pendleton, but wind and other weather factors can impact the noise level.
