Murrieta Celebrating 30 Years With Fireworks Show On July 1
Thursday's fireworks at Los Alamos Sports Park will honor the city's 30-year birthday.
MURRIETA, CA — On July 1, 1991, Murrieta became a city. At the time, there were about 24,000 residents. Today, more than 112,000 people call Murrieta home.
To celebrate three decades of cityhood, a fireworks show is planned Thursday night at Los Alamos Hills Sports Park. The show begins at dark (about 9 p.m.) and will last approximately 20 minutes. Local radio station KATY will provide synchronized music for those who tune their FM dial to 101.3.
Lakeside, Calif.-based Fireworks and Stage FX America will provide the display while Murrieta Fire & Rescue and the Murrieta Police Department stand by.
The city typically celebrates its birthday every June with a big bash, along with fireworks. Due to uncertainty caused by the pandemic, the June event was pushed to July 1 and scaled back a bit, meaning the annual festivities like vendors and live entertainment won't be on hand. Instead, another fireworks show — with all the trimmings — is planned again this fall. In essence, Murrieta is milking its 3oth!

Note: Anyone planning to drive to Thursday's fireworks show is asked to park in the Los Alamos Hills Sports Park lot. Alcohol and drugs are prohibited at the park.
